five on friday

Lawd, this week. Has. Been. Something. Else.

Lilli is still in the process of cutting four (!!!!) teeth all at once, and we've both cried some tears this week.

But it's f r i d a y!! I can take a deep breath knowing Kyle will be home all weekend to help. #handsintheairemoji.

o n e // Lilli turned TEN months this week! I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that we are going to have a "toddler" in two months.

t w o // this heat. i'm. so. over. it. I've never been a fan of hot weather, but I've had enough this summer. I'm more than ready to replace this cozy with a fall one.

cozy // necklace
t h r e e // I was so excited to be chosen as a brand rep for Gold Fawn Boutique, and I got my things in the mail from her this week! I'll be writing up a full post soon, but I'm so excited. Her shop has the cutest things!

f o u r // Do you guys watch America's Got Talent? It's a little hidden pleasure of mine. I was super happy with yesterday's results show! Everyone that I was rooting for got voted through. It's mind blowing the amount of "talents" in America.

f i v e // Speaking of TV, what are you guys watching on Netflix right now? I feel like I've watched all the good shows. Hubby and I are currently watching Royal Pains together, and I just restarted Friday Night Lights (I'm thinking of it as a preseason to preseason, haha) after finishing the latest season of Grey's. Royal Pains is so good. We've been on a medical show kick lately, and it definitely hits the spot.

b o n u s // Hub's and I are getting a "date night" tonight. I put that in quotes because it's not so much a date night as an event at church. But we take what we can get. We are going to a FEC convention at our church, where Taas Saada will be speaking. He's a former sniper and we are so excited to hear what he has to say and hear his testimony!

What are your plans for the weekend?

little lumber co.

Can I just take a moment to talk about my husband for a minute? Not only does my husband work long and hard monday - friday, then come home, take care of baby, then take care of his wife, all while helping me out with chores, fixing things, and working on his honey-do list: he also builds things. out of wood. Like, really, really cool things.

He's built all of the shelves in our house, our coffee table, our kitchen table + matching benches, bookshelves, picture frames - you name it, it was probably made by him.

We had a ton of people ask him to build them things here and there, and now he's opened up his own "little" shop.

What a man, my husband is.

Here's some things he has built for our home:

You can check out his shop here. His Instagram for the shop is here

He already has a list a mile long for the things he wants to add to the shop, so stay tuned.

t e n m o n t h s

We are officially in the double digits, and mama is trying not to lose it that we are going to have birthday party in two months.

dress // old navy
the numbers // 16.11 pounds.

teeth // she has two right now, but as we speak, she has two cutting + one on its way.

big things this month // says "dada" (first word!) + "mama" (came a few days after dada), + "hi!". She close to perfecting her sign language for "milk". She's almost clapping when you say "yay!". Getting closer to crawling!

the details // bold is this baby. She has no fear in telling you when she's not happy. But she is the happiest little girl. She's always smiling at everyone around her, and she get's so excited over everything, even the small things. She's my role model. :) Always eating and then always wanting more. She can never sit still, and she always has to be doing something with her hands... just like her mama. She knows what she wants and wants it when she wants it. haha! Most definitely a water baby. Bath time usually ends up with Lilli and mama and daddy all wet from someone's splashing. :) Still a huge mama's girl. But that's okay. I love our moments together when I pick her up, and she plops her head on my chest and just sits there. Be still, my heart.

sleep // Getting better with naps, but we did end up hiring a sleep therapist. She sleeps awesome at night, usually 6:30 pm ish to 6:30 am ish. But naps... that's a different story. We start next week, so more on that later!

food // Still 99% baby led weaning. We do give her pureed prunes or applesauce every day to keep her regular. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are usually what we are eating. Snacks usually consist of Cheerios or some kind of puff or cracker. Her favorites at the moment are: mama's whole wheat apple muffins (devours them), nutrition bars, quesadillas, ground turkey/beef, peanut butter, bread (loves her carbs), Silk yogurt, and apples. She's still breastfed. With meals, we've been trying to give her a sippy cup, but she has none of that. I think we've bought every single one on the market, haha!

Happy t e n months, girlfriend. You are my best girl.

xoxo, mama

the weekend

This weekend was so hot. Literally.
We had a heat advisory all weekend, making it feel like it was between 100-110 degrees.

I'm okay with 70-80 degree summer. but not 90-100 degree summer.

#nope.

Despite the heat, it was a pretty good weekend.

Saturday we lounged around in the morning. Then after L's nap, we headed to great-grandma's pool.

we love the pool.

Saturday night we went to TGIS - Thank God it's Saturday - church service. We normally go to Sunday morning mass, but we went Saturday instead because they were having an ice cream party afterwards.

and like we were going to say no to ice cream.

Sunday we went to Kyle's family church service, then met up for a while afterwards to catch up.

Then we came home, ate Subway, and did all of the lazy things.

How was your weekend?!

five on friday

Happy Friday, loves! Another week has come and gone. What did you do this week that made a difference?

o n e // Lilli said MAMA this week!! Definitely the highlight of my week. My heart exploded right out of my chest, and it's still making it's recovery.

t w o // I'm opening my shop back up today! I loved my time off, but I'm definitely ready to get back into the game! I'm hosting a sale in honor of reopening, and you can see those details here.

t h r e e // Also new in small business news, I'm hosting a giveaway on my Instagram that ends today. Check out the details here and head on over here to enter before it ends!

f o u r // Our oils have been a life saver this week. But then again, when aren't they? Lilli has been using Cobaiba for her teething, and Gentle Baby to go along with her attitude this week. Mama has been using a lot of Stress Away to go along with her attitude this week. ;)

f i v e // I attended my very first Mom's Gathering at our church this week. I felt the Holy Spirit pushing me to go, so, I did. And I'm so glad I did. It was wonderful meeting other moms and witnessing the different stages of motherhood that we are all in. I took away so many things from the gathering, and Jesus was definitely present with us all last night. One of the best things said was "One of the most powerful things we will do in this life is invest in our children." Talk about powerful.

"We have to choose joy and keep on choosing it." - Henri J.M Nouwen.

confessional thursday

these are my c o n f e s s i o n s

o n e // I like cats more than dogs. Like a lot more. My dog threw up some grass this morning (that we tell her not to eat every.day.) for the 3956439 time and I'm secretly wondering if she thinks she's a goat. #catsoverdogs.

t w o // I just snuck a couple sour patch kids out of the pantry because my own sour patch kid is making me wonder how sane I am today. it's okay.

t h r e e // I have my first Mom's Ministry Gathering today, and although I'm super excited for it, I'm also super nervous. Like, what if I don't fit in? What if I'm awkward? Also- it starts at seven which is really close to my bedtime and I hope I don't fall asleep. #onlykindofkidding.

f o u r // I forgot about the giveaway I'm hosting on my Instagram for a moment this morning, and I was super confused why someone was tagging a bunch of people on a photo of mine. I'm just tired. It's fine. I'm fine.

favorite small shops lately

I am a huge small shop supporter. As a small business owner myself, I definitely understand how hard it can be, but how amazing it can be as well. I love knowing that when I purchase an item from a small shop, I’m supporting a family, and that’s worth more than anything.

favorite small shops lately

kennedy and co // I cannot rave enough about this shop. Samantha makes the cutest baby clothes I have ever seen and has always been so helpful when I’m in need of a new outfit. I purchase Lilli’s first birthday outfit through her and I cannot wait!

Kennedy and Co’s shop and Instagram.

stretching grace // Lindsey had me loving her shop from the get go when she offered to send me a couple free headbands for my little babe to show off on my Instagram. Uh, yes please! Not only do we love her headbands, she’s also so sweet!

Stretching Grace's Instagram

the button belle // I “met” Emily quite a while ago through Instagram, as we both own small businesses. We connected quite quickly after I wanted to buy her entire shop :) She’s so sweet, and L and I both have some super cute headbands from her. We cannot wait to buy more!

The Button Belle’s shop and Instagram.

homemade in kansas // I can’t express my love for this shop enough! I connected with Taylor quite a while ago, and when she started a shop with the cutest monogramed items, I couldn’t help myself. She has the best prices and the best personality ever. ;)

the weekend

This weekend was, simply put, beautiful. Kyle had a half day on Friday. woot woot! Saturday we went early morning shopping, then attended a gorgeous wedding {baby free, I might add} that evening. Sunday was our normal church and lunch things, and then we spent the rest of the day lounging watching movies while it rained outside. a perfect weekend.

five on friday

Happy Friday, friends! I hope this week has treated you well.

o n e // I finally finished editing our family photos! Full blog post to come soon, but here is a little sneak peak for you:

can't wait to share the rest!

t w o // My mom came and stayed for a few days this week and it was w o n d e r f u l. Having someone around to help throughout the day with baby and the house - it's seriously something I never take for granted anymore.

t h r e e // Lilli said her first word this week - dada. She also is close to clapping when you say "yay!", and we are working on baby sign language. Any tips?

f o u r // We got some work done on our patio this week. We finally got a table, umbrella, a swing, chairs, lights, and some flowers. We just need to finish the concrete for our patio and get started on that half. For now though, we are enjoying our peaceful back porch. Full blog post to come!

f i v e // Did you see my most recent blog post about the things I don't do/things I am not? If you haven't, you can see it here!

"There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty. " - Dr. Steve Maraboli.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

things I don’t do/am not

I recently wrote a post of positivity talking about things that I do and things that I am. This post is something of the same. While it talks about things I am not/things that I don’t do, it’s still a positivity post because it’s totally okay to not be some things!

things I don’t do/am not

1 // I do not clean the house every day. I don’t clean near as much as I would like to since having my little babe, but that’s totally okay! Even though I’m a stay at home mom, most of my day revolves around taking care of L, and when she’s napping, I’m either working or doing something for myself, like peeing or eating. :)

2 // I am not as confident as I wish I were. This is most definitely one of my worst “am nots”. While I am working every day in this area of my life to boost my confidence and self esteem, and to love myself more, it’s okay to not be there yet. I’m working towards better, and that’s all that matters right now!

3 // I can't say no. I’m the worst when it comes to saying no. I always feel so.bad. when I have to tell someone no, especially when I can’t help them out. I grieve over it for days, and I usually end up trying to help in some other way because I just can’t stand the fact that I had to say no. I know, I’m crazy. It’s okay though.

4 // I take forever to get over things. I mentioned in my last post that I’m a very sensitive person, and because of that, when I get hurt, I get hurt for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I forgive quickly. But it tugs at my heart for a really, really long time; therefore, takes me way too long to get over things, even if that thing is completely pointless to the other person.

5 // I don’t do a lot of the things I pin on Pinterest. I wish I had more time to do all of the thousands of things I pin on pinterest (kind of) but I don’t. While I do accomplish things here and there, I definitely forget about most of the things I pin.

I challenged you in the previous post to take on this prompt, and I challenge you to take on this one, too! It’s harder than it looks, but listen to me when I say, it reveals things to you about yourself that you long forgot about, in a good way. :)

little eats // patriotic puppy chow

It's kind of tradition in my family that every holiday, big or small, we make some kind of dessert. Sometimes it's a new recipe and sometimes it's an old one.

This year for the Fourth of July, we decided to make Patriotic Puppy Chow, aka puppy chow with red, white, and blue m&m's.

Super easy and super yummy.

Patriotic Puppy Chow
{ps // so sorry for the single photo. busy weekend = little time for photos :)}

Ingredients:

- 9 cups Chex cereal (one kind or a mix of them, your choice)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 bag of red, white, and blue m&m's

Directions:

- In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate, butter, and peanut butter for 30 seconds. Take out, stir, and microwave for another 30 seconds. Take out and stir.

- Add in vanilla and stir to mix.

- In a separate large bowl, add the Chex. Pour chocolate, butter, and peanut butter mix on top and gently stir to coat.

- In a gallon zip bag, pour the powdered sugar. Dump in Chex mixture. Close the bag and shake, dance, and jump to mix together...or just shake to coat. ;)

- Once coated, mix in m&m's.

Told ya it was easy! ;)

Makes one gallon bag. Super easy to half or double or quadruple.

Enjoy!
